Clan Graham

Mugdock Castle has a special significance for anyone with the surname Graham.   The castle was the official seat of the Clan Graham from 1372 to 1700. In the 17th century it was home to one of the best know Grahams in Scottish history, James Graham, 1st Marquis of Montrose.

The Graham heritage is an important aspect of the castle’s history.  For this reason the Clan Graham Society of North America maintains strong links to Mugdock Castle, through the management team at Mugdock Park and the Mugdock Trust.  Members of the Society visit the Castle every three to five years, the most recent being in July 2022, and actively fundraise for the Castle in the intervening years.  They have been generous in their financial support for the work of the Trust, contributing funds for the development and maintenance of the castle and its grounds, including the creation of the ‘Clan Graham Room’ in the tower.

Further information on the Clan Graham Society can be found on their website.
