Mugdock Trust is a charitable organisation formed in 1991. There are currently 7 Trustees with a range of skills and experience who share a desire to preserve, enhance and promote the historical and natural features of Mugdock Country Park by raising funds to carry out project work. The Trust engages with Park management through a Joint Working Group which meets quarterly to work together on matters of common interest. A Park representative is also invited to attend the regular Trust meetings.
Trust members played a key role in ‘rescuing’ Mugdock Castle from the 1990s when a major consolidation programme was undertaken. It had suffered decades of neglect and was effectively saved from complete collapse by those early trustees. The Castle has remained a primary focus for the Trust and, in recent years, it has taken an increasing interest in promoting the Castle’s story by supporting the production of guidebooks and interpretation boards and facilitating visits on special open days.
The Trust is aided in its efforts by assistance from the Clan Graham Society of North America whose members pay regular visits to their ancestral home, the latest being in August 2025. It was the Society’s generous donations that enabled the creation of the Graham Room within the Castle tower.
Mugdock Trust is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and funded wholly by donations. If you would like to become involved or make a donation please e-mail themugdocktrust@gmail.com
Mugdock Trust [Charity No SCO17845] was originally formed as a company limited by guarantee [Company No SC131161] but is now a “Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation.”
